There are a few stores and shops open and is a nice place to relax and take a nice stroll. During the evening and night however, this Lisbon neighborhood starts to come alive. Bairro Alto is home to literally hundreds of bars and also restaurants and smaller eateries; and as a dedicated party zone, it is also known to be very noisy throughout the night. Some would advise not to look for apartments in Bairro Alto when moving to Lisbon, because of the late-night noise.
